A16A1
The A16A1 was a carburated 1.6 liter engine used in the 1982-1985 Honda Accords in North America and in some of the 1986-1989 Accords in the non-USDM market.
Specifications
Carbeurated
Displacement: 1596 cm3
Bore: 80 mm
Stroke: 79.5 mm
Power:
88 hp @ 6000 rpm
91 ft/lb torque @ 3500 rpm
A18A
The A18A engine was the 1.8 liter engine found in the 1982-1985 Honda Accords as well as the 1984-1987 Honda Prelude in the US. Abroad, it was also available in the 1986-1989 Accords.
Specifications
Carbeurated

Power:
A20A
The A20A is probably the most plentiful of all the Honda A-series engines. It was available in both carbeurated and PGM-FI versions. They were found in both Accords and Preludes throughout the 1980s.
A20A1 & A20A2
The A20A1 and A20A2 were the carbeurated versions of the A20A engines. It was available in the 1984-1987 Honda Preludes as well as the 1982-1989 Accord DX and LX. They are the same engine, the only difference between them being that the A20A2 has no emissions components, so it has a slightly higher power output (hp and tq numbers for A20A1 only).
Specifications
Carbeurated
Displacement: 1955 cm3
Bore:
Stroke:
Power:
98 hp
109 ft/lb at 3500 rpm
A20A3 & A20A4
The A20A3 and A20A4 were the fuel injected versions of the A20A engines. They were run by Honda's PGM-FI system on a partial OBD-0 computer. Again, there is no real difference between the A20A3 and the A20A4 besides the A20A4 having a slightly higher power output because of not having emissions components (hp and tq numbers for A20A3 only). The A20A3 was offered in the 1984-1987 Honda Prelude 2.0Si, the 1985 and 1989 Honda Accord SE-i, and the 1986-1989 Honda Accord LX-i.
Specifications

The H22A debuted in 1993 for use in the Honda Prelude VTEC as the H22A1. Versions of the H22A would be the Prelude's signature high-performance engine worldwide until the end of Prelude production in 2001. It was also used in the 1994–1997 Honda Accord SiR and 1998–2002 Honda Accord Euro-R in Japan (however different cams and lightweight crank were used in the Euro R H22A).

J25
The J25A was the first J-series engine produced. It was only used in the export-model Inspire/Saber models, however. The J25A displaced 2.5 L and was an SOHC VTEC design. Output was 192 hp.

[edit] J30
The J30 displaces 3.0 L and is an SOHC VTEC design. Output for the J30A1 was 200 hp (149 kW) and 195 ft·lbf (264 N·m) of torque. The J30A4 pushed output to 240 hp (179 kW) and 212 ft·lbf (287 N·m) using a three-way VTEC system, higher (10:1) compression ratio, and a novel exhaust manifold cast as one piece with the cylinder head. This version was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2003 and 2004. The IMA hybrid version was on the list for 2005. In 2006 to mark the 30th anniversary of the Accord, Honda created the J30A5, which boosted output to 244 hp (SAE Net 08/04) and 211 ft·lbf (SAE Net 08/04) of torque. According to Honda, horsepower gains were achieved with extensive improvements to the airflow of the intake and exhaust systems.
The J30A1 used in the 6th-generation Accord (1997-2002) has heads which are very similar to the J32* engines used in Acura CL and TL Type-S engines of approximately the same years. This makes it possible to swap in J32A2 camshafts. These are readily available and not particularly expensive (about $200 for two camshafts plus $40 or so for gaskets and other items, vs. $1000+ for custom-ground camshafts from other sources) and produce excellent performance gains, particularly in the mid to high RPM range. However, the stock J30A1 valve springs are not as stiff as the J32A2 valve springs, so the valves may need adjustment more frequently than on an unmodified J30A1 engine. Also, 1997-1999 Accords used a distributor, which means the rear camshaft has to be notched by a machinist in order to work in those cars. (2000 and above J30A1s use direct ignition and thus can be dropped in unmodified.)

The new J35 used in the Acura RL produces 290 hp (224 kW) at 6200 rpm and 256 ft·lbf (347 N·m) at 5000 rpm. This engine was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2005.
The J35A91 used in the Honda Ridgeline produces 247 hp (184 kW) at 5750 rpm and 245 ft·lbf (332 N·m) at 4500 rpm.
The J35 is also used by General Motors in the Saturn VUE, though GM refers to it as the L66.

The Honda R series Inline Four Cylinder engine is new for the 2006 Honda Civic (Non-Si). It displaces 1.8L (1799cc), is Fuel injected, has an Aluminum-Alloy cylinder block and cylinder head, is a SOHC 16 valve design (4 valves per Cylinder), utilizes Honda's i-VTEC system, and produces 140 HP@6300RPM and 128 lb.-ft.@4300 RPM SAE net. (Torque), with the redline at 6800 RPM. The R series is undersquare with a bore and stroke (mm) of 81 x 87.3 (Stroke ratio of 0.93) ; it has a Compression ratio of 10.5:1, features a "Drive by wire" throttle system, and is quite economical, with its CARB ULEV-2 (Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle) rating, and 30/40 City/Highway MPG. It also uses the same computer (ECU) controlled direct ignition as the Honda K-series engines; it has no distributor. The R Series engine is new, and thus relatively little technical information has circulated so far. Although, the OEM service manual is due to arrive soon at HELM INC. The following picture is the engine assembly with the new compact 5 speed automatic transmission assembly to the right of it.

This engine has various upgrades and modifications by M-TEC (formerly Mugen) and is the first turbo-charged Honda engine used in the series (prior to 2003, the GT-spec NSXs used a highly advanced, naturally-aspirated variant of the C32B engine). Though the exact performance figures are kept secret, it's rumored to output more than 500 bhp.
